Im just curious if anyone here goes on any work social events, something where 'most' employees are involved, possibly just with colleagues or with families too, something other a piss up at the pub?

We're thinking about organising something at work, but not really sure what to do. We have such a wide age range, its actually difficult to find something suitable for everyone.

Any ideas

Rarely. Purely because everything is arranged miles from home and its a pain in the arse getting there and back myself using pubic transport.

Usually questions are isnt there a last bus or train, or is there no one that lives your way! Well no and there never has been.

All the time, we have a cool set of people. Go drinking, bowling, rounders, Christmas, random dinners.

Nice everyone gets along well tbh.

Me and some lads from work go out the odd weekend, but this will be my third Christmas, and my third Christmas night out, and more than likely the third one I've been absolutely cunted.

I'm up at my bosses for most social gatherings, fireworks etc...

They pay for all the booze on works nights outs and I work with a shower of greedy bastards so everyone always ends up blootered.

Last Christmas was a particularly mental one

I dont go, I hate the people i work with.
Tried convincing them to all go paintballing last year - purely so i could shoot my boss in the face... Didnt happen.

I try not to go with the work people as most of it is organised by the bosses three daughters. It just turns into them three getting slaughtered, annoying everyone and us all footing the bill for it.

Last time we went out I had a main at £9, that was it as I was driving, no normal drink either.

They split the bill after they consumed many bottles of wine.

My £9 turned into £25.

Bowling, Drinking, paintballing is on the list I think.

Mums work does a governers day with games/activities/food etc once a year which put on by the bank and is for families and friends etc always a good event apparently.

Was invited to a project meal tonight. Couldn't think of anything worse tbh, hence the decline. It's fine when I'm paid to be with these people, but once I'm off the clock I'm outta there!

I find any excuse to not go out with the people I work with; I always have holidays booked in the last week before Christmas when the have a social and because I live over an hour away, I use that as the excuse. Bad enough to deal with the repribates in work time, not letting them into my social life too

Our place do curry nights occasionally but I don't go to them as it's in the centre of oxford which means hassle, and I can't stand most of the people here anyway so the last thing I want to do is go to dinner with them.

Although I did hear that one of the senior guys got drunk at the last one and was shouting at our MD telling him what he thought of the company, the MD promptly left once he'd finished shouting

We tend to do a dinner and bowling evening once every couple of months. Work with quite a good bunch though.

I used to work with a bunch of quality lads so we went down the pub one night for dinner and brews and ended up sleeping on one of the boats for the night

No chance I'd bother with this lot though. Tbf there are a couple that are alright so we have done stuff outside of work a couple of times.
