Any basic information on smoothing?
Is it easy, what do I need, etc

It can be done with fiberglass and filler, but overtime it will more than likely sink or crack. Best way is to plastic weld, search youtube to see how to plastic weld, and then a skim of filler over the top.

Both methods can be done at home if you have the skills/patience.

As for the boot, you will want it welded, everyone I know who has used fiberglass to smooth there boot it has cracked due to it being slammed shut all the time.

dont do the bumper if your doing it by yourself and its the first thing you've smoothed unless you've got a spare... its not an easy job for a beginner

i gotta spare post 97 here
