I'd blank it and see if the problem goes away.

I'm sure someone blanked off one using a cut up coke can and some bolts. (unless I've made that up)

My bosses one had what they thought was an EGR fault, got them blanked and it turned out to be the turbo causing the problem.

It's only a few but anybody I know with one has had loads of problems just out of warranty, all expensive.
