was going to throw the wind deflectors away aswell, wish i had for the sake of 15 quid
But for the sake of less than 2quid you chose to send them 2nd class instead of 1st.

Good luck with royal mail we use them for work and it normally takes around 4 months for anything to happen.

my first thought waa that he was scamming as i packed it really well, but he seems to be very co-operarive about it all.

Sending them cheap is a risk you take, problem is that by the time you've taken a Paypal payment and spent the time getting the stuff off you're better staying in bed anyway. Insuring the postage against damage when it's well packed is a bit of a tax on their poor standards.

im kind of hoping for the sake of 15 quid they pay out. as said, i was going to throw them away anyway so worst case scenario is i lose the 15 he paid me.

You'll need to give him the £15 back, plus you've paid for the postage as well?
That puts you down compared to throwing them away.
