people who strike should have to attend the picket line otherwise the abscence should be treated as unauthorised leave and disciplinary action taken.
doesn't work though where the workplace won't let more than 6 people on each picket line

I can understand the strike ( even if it's not going to change much ) but I was working in Swindon yesterday and there was a strike there. They stopped me from working for a good two hours which put me well behind my work and seeing as its dark by 4:30 ment I was pretty much screwed. I don't have a problem I they want to stop workin etc but why stop me?

And the rest are classed as "bystanders" and are encouraged to hold signs etc

if they can tell them no more than 6 to a picket surely they can tell them not to strike at all? fucking strikes are ridiculous and a clear waste of time

I'll let Steve look for the link but...
There's a report that shows, for equivalent skill levels, public sector workers get paid more.

And do less.

Yip.
You basically have a load of unskilled, work shy employees, getting paid what isn't a terrible wage and are quite happy to be stuck in that particular rut.
The private sector guys, especially at the moment, are mostly forced to be constantly taking on new things and learning whatever they need to do the task.
Teachers, nurses, anybody that has some form of skill and proper training doesn't count in that.

If anything teachers are the worst example of people being over paid in the public sector.
Guy who now works here, on a protected wages because hes an ex teacher, 35k, and hes a useless sack of shit at his job
on even more then the main boss!

So he's not a teacher then and that example doesn't really work?

My mum (a head teacher) is highly educated and controls a £1m++ budget. If she was working in the private sector where I work in she would be on 3 maybe 4 times her current wage

Head teacher could be on 60k?
She'd get 200k just for controlling a £1m budget?

If that's true then why doesn't she work in the private sector...

She'll more than likely also have an amazing pension.

It's hard to compare as it depends on structures.

Love how everyone harps on about teachers/councel workers/NHS. Then pigeon holes the whole lot as 'public sector'.
Theres a lot more to the public sector than is mentioned in here and there not all over paid and work shy
