I was wondering if someone could kindly help Three of the exhaust manifold studs have spun themselves freely, to diognose this problem iv been told you can get them helicoiled but also been told you can buy some sort of addhesive to put in the stud holes then to put the new stud's in then to let them set i think? can sombody shine a bit of light on this problem for me plz

heli coil them, any sort of adhesive in there would make removing any snapped studs in the future a nightmare

if you used chemical metal then drilled and re-tapped it it could maybe work, other than that it's heli coils as you say or a new head altogether.

Heli coil is best bet chemical metal is ok for a short term fix aswell or could always drill and tap holes bigger

They continuely spin :/ thanx guy's i think im just going to get the stripped holes helli coiled

The only thing about heli coiling the head is that it's aluminium but the heli coil will be steel. Can't see it being a major problem but I'd be giving it a good dose of copper slip at least anyway mate

Why's that a problem? A lot of builders of big power engines using ally blocks etc helicoil the tapped holes for head studs etc,
Also the helicoil in the head will be a lot stronger that the original tapped thread.

I was talking shite about that thing with the materials mate, getting mixed up

But using helicoils in blocks for head studs is a bit different, I'd assume it wouldn't be as a repair but as an original size hole to give the thread extra strength. It's a bit different from having to drill and tap an m10 hole since for a start they'll have plenty of space. I'm not sure how much metal there is around the studs but it could be a problem
