I recently bought and fitted a front and rear splitter set for my FN2, and it looks like the previous owner of the splitters has reversed into a high curb at somepoint as the left rear quarter of the rear one has got some gouges in it.
It also appears that Stevie Wonder has tried to touch this area up with an electric toothbrush 
It's a bit of a state, but it's on a section of the car which is very hard to notice from being stood up - and for that reason I'm not too fussed about having it repaired "properly". I do however want to rub down the excess touch up paint that has been used - so at least the touch up paint used in the gouges is flush with the rest of the splitter... if that makes sense.
I've tried attacking it with some autoglym SRP, and there was some red paint coming off onto my cloth - but nothing significant. Would a harsher product get rid of the rest of this paint, and if so - any recommendations?
Other than that - what about a really really fine sanding block? I obviously don't want to damage the surrounding paintwork - but if I can get something that's harsh enough to cut through the softer touchup paint without damaging the proper paint... it would be idea.
You can see it's also not a particularly good colour match  though it doesn't look so bad in daylight to be fair (if you close one eye and squint with the other).
What do you reckon?

Might want to wait for a response from someone in the know but i'd have thought some 2000 paper to rub it down and a bit g3 to polish it back up?

That's along the lines of what I'm hoping I can do. No idea about the grades of paper though, and what would be best.
I'll check out homebase tomorrow and see if there is any 2000 - and can take it from there I guess. I can always rub some off right at the very bottom as it's invisible from a standing position... and see what it looks like.

You probably won't find any grade that high in your local homebase or B&Q but as stated above, 1800 or 2000 will smooth off any paint or laquer and you will be able to buff it back up to a good shine, just make sure you keep the sandpaper wet so it doesnt clog up, also, if the area is curved and not flat, don't use a block, just use your hand, otherwise you will just cut streight through it in nice patches. Touch up paint is honestly the devil, why people attack cars with it is beyond me

Managed to get some 2200 from halfords. I've rubbed down the excess touchup quite nicely, there seemed to have been two layers - some orange primer and the red topcoat.
The surrounding laquer is suffering though, Autoglym SRP didn't do too much to help it so i'll look out for some heavier compound next week.
