Don't know much about mk3 astra but I'd guess rust. The Isuzu engines themselves are pretty much bulletproof, check its not been starved of oil from experience.

I could be wrong, but i don't think thats an Isuzu engine. I think thats the Vauxhall engine.

Thats the Isuzu engine, I had the same in my first corsa. Ultra reliable and went on forever. £400 with a 12 month ticket is a bargain imo

Did the Isuzu engine not have "turbo" written on the cam cover and the GM engine had "diesel" written on it.

It was an Isuzu. Was cleanish outside but very pink. Inside was a disgrace hay all over. Really fucking boils my piss when people can't clean a car when selling. Took it out and it was jerking like mad. Flew you forward every gear change lol. Didnt start up well either. Ended up buying a escort finesse 1.6 zetec W plate tax feb test jan13 £450 and it's clean

Thanks 4 the help

I had a 2.0 16v valve (ecotec) mk3 2 years ago, was pretty quick for an old astra.
Cost me a huge £175, and flew through the MoT, i couldnt get away quick enough.
