Can't help on the price of it all but if you can get a prescription from your vet for the treatment you might be able to use this site and get it a bit cheaper. Vets will charge more.

Found that site and this one http://www.caninsulin.com/Managing-diabetic-dogs-insulin-dosage.asp
If I'm calculating it correctly if he's 19kg he needs 7.6-13.3 of IU and the Caninsulin containts 40IU/ML so hell need 0.2-0.3ml each dose? In that case 10ml which is £18.50 would last a month. With needles etc that would be less than £50 a month?
I know it's quite specialist and most people won't know much if anything about this

We've got it but it's a £2k per illness limit and when he hits 8 in November we've got to pay 20% of the cost of any treatment.

100 syringes
Shop around but that seems a decent price, 100 for £12 + postage.
Will be using 62 a month so that's under £50 a month total.

2K isn't much at at when it comes to veterinary care, for example something like joint replacement would be about 4k, better to be safe then sorry.
