Hi, quick question really as someone is viewing my gf's car today and she has lost the logbook

I have bought a few cars without them and have sent off for a new one with no problems. We have the new keeper slip and tax reminders, etc to prove that she is the owner. Would you find this a problem or dodgey? It's a cheap car and sounds like a young couple are wanting to buy it.

What are the best ideas to suggest...?

1) We can fill in the V62 form there and then and even post it in the post box a the same time.
2) Suggest that i will take a deposit and as soon as the new logbook arrives i will sell him the car, even though they live over 2 hours away!
3) Il just give them the new keeper slip and the v62 to sort it out himself and i send a letter to dvla to let them know that the car is sold

Any ideas? I really want the car selling today and dont want to scare them off and sounding dodgey.

I would think it was dodgy from the outset, I'd have to check everything else all matched up and sounded ok.

I've sold a couple with no V5 because of private plate but I've always explained to them before they wasted time coming to look.

I suppose if they arnt happy about it i could always take a deposit and apply for a new one and even deliver the car to them in a week or two, at least then they know that i genuinely would get a logbook.

Just a shame it's lost

How can you lose the logbook but still have the new keepers slip??

Or do you mean you still have the new keepers slip from when she got the car??
