It's a doddle, there's loads of room.

iirc belt goes over the cams last, then (starting at the timing marks) make a mark, 8 teeth anti clockwise on the exhaust cam pulley then turn the engine by hand until the new mark is on your original timing mark. Belt slack should now be taken up and you can tension it.

Forget using tensioning tools, all you need is a short 3/8 ratchet extension bar to fit into the square hole cut out on the tensioner.

Thanks guys, loads of help! Also previous owner said belt was done 5k ago. If I take the belt cover off should it be easy to tell if that's about right?

You'll be able to see if the belt is worn, and you'll probably be able to see nice shiney tensioner etc if it's relatively new but i'd def change it for your own piece of mind.

Most people would say anything when sell ing a car......
