i guess bank accounts are like anything nowerdays, new customer deals are better than loyalty and it pays to shop around.
with hsbc nowerdays and getting naff all from them, looking to switch, maybe Halifax as they are offering some good deals - anyonje switched recently?
I dont need an overdraft, dont use a creditcard, have a maxed out isa and need a savings account minimum

Money saving expert tells you about good deals and some offer cash back to switch to them. I've never changed personally because I worked for the bank and couldn't but now I don't I've considered shopping around although an accounts and account to me when I just use it to keep money in every month lol

2nd one i was looking at as my lass is with them too and plenty of branches
hsbc also use stupid pin gadgets to access online banking which is useless when im out and about

More and more are introducing the bloody pin devices. Nartionwide no only had that but also a 10 digit number to remember.

Rob, HSBC requires a 10 digit number, password, 6-8 digit passcode for the pin gadget and then the pin gadget generated passcode for access.
The pin device is a royal pain in the arse as, like Mart says, when you're out and about

i changed from hsbc to santander a few months bac.
purely for the £100 you got for moving.
but tbh the interest rate on the current account for the first year is 5% iirc either way i get a couple of quid a month interest instead of the odd few pence i got at hsbc.
also got their cash back credit card at the same time (costs £24 a year) but only 3 months of use and i have already earnt that back, so the next 9 months will be just money back in my pocket so to speak.

Ouch. Very impressed with First Direct. Nice and easy to remember usernames and a decent iphone app too which means while i am out about its easy to look at the banking situation.

they really dont pay anything even in their bonus online saver when i sold my car and had a fair bit of money in there i only got £1something interest in the month, i get more than that each month on less than £2k

i used to get 60-65t a month interest on my isa and flexi saver, now i get about 2 quid
but my mortgage went down 250 quid, so overall i was better off still

Need to change banks, HSBC won't give me a student account and I'm paying over a fiver a month in overdraft charges. Not much but I'd rather not pay them

No but they are part of HSBC so you can use their branches.
Must admit though I've moved my savings out and into an ING account for better interest.
