I would rather have two mots a year, but not really bothered either way, with me doing a lot of the work myself, i would feel a bit more reassured having a qualified pair of eyes look over it.

a lot can change in a year, so 6 months would be best.

Its a cheap cost, probably one of the cheapest in motoring and its once a year, can't see the problem

Maybe an mot should be based on miles then for all cars rather then yearly, don't see how a system where someone doing 50k a year and someone doing 5k take a test with the same amount of days between.

Yeah but if some people don't do alot of miles then it won't be MOT'd for ages. The average annual miles is what, 20k? So if the MOT was every 20k miles, I would have one every 4 years. That's based on the fact I have only done about 11k in the last 2 and a half years.

things wear on cars that arent milage related, could have a car sat on the drive doing zero miles for 5 years then present with a rotten hole in the rear beam

Anything older than 6 years should be mot twice a year. Would helP get rid of these shonky DIY scrap heaps that get fixed badly and allowed on the roads.

VW's and stuff are usually ok, but yes i agree they should be compulsary for anything french, vauxhall, ford or cheap japanense cars.

How is it more of a rip off, if it's the same price?

No way of policing it that way tbh.
Ie ANPR cameras won't know what mileage the cars have.

I paid £52 last MOT.
The place is run by old boys and the owner has a hill climb lotus elan and often has classic cars there so, I will pay the extra for people that won't rip me off and know what they are doing

Average annual mileage is only 20k when someone wants rid of a high mileage car.
