I have a new unregistered van , I want to register it as a new van .
What mileage does it need to be below to register it new
What forms do I need or where do I take it

Surely mileage doesn't come into it, you could do 20,000miles on a test track before it's on sale but it would still be recognised as 'brand new' as far as registration goes?

Mileage won't matter but it will be given a plate based on its age.

On it's age , oh dear . I was under impression if it was under a certain mileage it could be registered new. What about factories that stockpile for years but still go Ob new plates

They still have the minimum mileage required to deliver, same as the conditions to import.

Van is 08 . But ideally I wanted them on new plates . Ian what you mean for export? These retail at about 23k I dread to think the value of an 08 . I was under impression as long as they was under something like 20 miles they could be registered as new reg

If you bring an import in and it has mileage above which is necessary for it to be delivered, you can't register it as new. I was assuming they would apply the same condition to that one.
They can ask to inspect as well I think, and it's going to be fairly obvious unless you're talking a few hundred or fewer.

You say mileage above . The mileage is only a few and would well be within delivery mileage .Yeh I can imagine they would want to inspect it .cheers I'll have to get on blower and get the forms

I think if its an 08 model, this will be a euro 4 engine, Where as now they are onto a euro 5 engine iirc

I was ply lining a load of vans last year for a broker and there was clearly a rogue one in the batch. They were still at the dealers storage area so had the stickers on the screen and sure enough it was 12months old already, however according to my sheet it was getting a 60plate like the rest of them.

What was the mileage on it?
If its delivery it can get a new plate at the time of registration. If not it'll go age related.
I broke a Puma built in 99 on a 2000/W, must have just sat in storage before being registered as new. But in that case if it has been used away from a public highway - airports / factories / storage yards and the like then it will be based on age on the VIN.

That'll explain that then, it hadn't been PDI'd yet so I can't imagine anything more than a couple of miles on it.

see it loads - i have seen cars built two years before being registered on the plate for that time of year
One being a passat - ordered by for a fleet - but the company went bust - car sat in our compound for over a year had shit growing out of it an everything - eventually we took ownership it was cleaned - PDI'd and registered on the plate of the time (maybe an 09 plate) but the chassis year was 2007
