I have just bought a new car and want to put my private plate on it from my old car.
I have new keepers sup, tax disk and MOT cert for my new car
and
V5, tax disk and MOT cert for my old car which the private plate is on.
Can I go to my local office and get them to swap it over or do I have to wait for the V5 to come through on my new car?
Also, how much will it cost?
Thanks

And it's £80 to straight swap from one car to another but you have to own both IIRC?

no you dont need new v5, just go to dvla
i bought a car 300 miles from home, drove to local dvla in bristol, swapped plate over to my own, rang insurance up, then drove it home

Really? I went in and they wouldn't let me change it without the car being in my name

Might give it a go then, seeing as the office is just down the road from Uni!

You can do it with just the new keepers slip
Although I went to do that and the v5 had been sent out but not received yet so couldn't do it. So as long as the new v5 hasn't been issued you can do it
