helicopters are quite unstable really, they tail rotor keeps them steady. the article mentions ground resonance which explains it really.

rotational movement falls inline with earths ground resonance and in effect shakes the aircraft to bits, undercarraige design trys to combat this, it wont turn the engine off, unless something breaks (fuel line etc)
thats hw i understand it on a simple cs level

natural frequency is what causes bridges to bow up and down. i think ground resonance is just the effect of the ground causing the forces in the helicopter be bounced straight back into it.
im probably completely wrong im still only first year engineering
