Cycle to work window is next month (March) at my work, so i'm going to treat myself.
Constraints - Sadly it HAS to be bought from Halfords as thats the only company they deal with & must be <£1000.
So looking for the best mountain bike currently on sale in Halfords thats under a grand.
Was thinking a Boardman Team 2011/2012.
Any advice appreciated from the bikers.

Roadie or MTB?
Boardman range gets good reviews tbh. I hate Halfords though.

Boardman aren't bad bikes tbh, look pretty smart and seen a couple of roadies round here riding them. Rumour has it halfords can get pretty much anything you want in though, not sure how true that is.

Friend of mine has had a Boardman for a couple of years now and loves it. I think they are good bikes but because they come from Halfords people assume they aren't.

There's a couple of places stock them now, not just halfords so can't be that bad, as they say on bikeradar by all means get one but let a proper bike shop set it up and check it over

The scheme at my work said I had to use Halfords but they can get any bike really!
I got a Specilized hardrock pro sport delivered to my door from them!
Have a look at leisure lakes cycles as thats who halfords use to get bike they don't stock

Yep. Get it delivered in the box, tell Halfrauds not to touch it and get your LBS to build and set it up.
