Impossible to imagine how it feels to lose one of your most precious senses through a mindless act of violence whilst doing your job
Not sure If I would be strong enough to cope in all honesty.
RIP to the poor fella.

I don't think i could cope having my sight taken away by a complete lunatic thug whilst just trying to do my job.
Going blind through illness would be different, but this, nope.
His wife leaving him was a low thing to do by her IMO, leaving him alone with none of his family with him, also blind. Too much for me.
I have a very low opinion of suicides i think it is very very selfish, but this is the first one i've ever sympathised with
RIP

regarding his wife leaving him, i think i remember reading this guys character completely changed after this incident and he became very different, i can understand how it would affect a relationship and as selfish as it sounds i think she also had to think about herself and her kids

Exactly barndoor. id imagine he got annoyed very easily and took it out on his family a lot, forcing her away, realised he'd lost everything and thought he had nothing to live for and ended it.
Pure speculation obviously.

Conpletly agree with barnshaw, I'm sure his wife feels guilty regardless, but IMO she shouldn't.
She stuck with him after incident, and obviously wasn't working out

Is it definitely suicide?
I know it looks very much like it, but is it confirmed?
