Mate of mine is going to test drive a citroen DS3 on thursday as he's wanting to replace his corsa C sxi. He doesnt fancy a corsa vxr as theres alot around. clio 197 has been looked at but nothing else, as of yet. anyother recommendations? its used daily but he wants something quicker and doesnt need a big car. what are peoples thoughts and recomendations? thanks

DS4 too big. ibiza cupra is a good shout and hes always said wouldnt have a skoda which ive disagreed with him about.

Which DS3 is he testing? The 1.6 VTi is slow, but I guess he's not going for that if he wants something 'hot'.

It would be brand new but the insurance on all of the above would cripple him. he's 22.

I'd have thought the insurance would be about the same for most hot hatches.

As said why not buy 2nd hand and then have more money to put towards insurance.

steer clear of 197 gearboxes like to go bang ! and are awful for comfort

Clio 200. Might as well get the best hot hatch that money can buy.

Its a good step up over the 197. Its a lot more drivable when pottering about with the improved gear ratios and more grunt down low.
