My friend who I'm sharing my unit with has been breaking a load of mk2 Mr2s, must have done around 5 over the winter.

The are all write offs from crashes and none of them have had a single decent tyre on them, every one is a budget tyre.

So, this must prove that budget tyres are dangerous?

Maybe they had alloys on with decent tyres but when they crashed it, they changed the wheels so could keep the alloys.

I wouldn't say they're dangerous, if they're that bad they wouldn't be for sale.

It's more the fact the owners willingly bought cheap tyres and pushed the car too much.

iv had sunnys on a few times before and to be totally honest their great when its dry but when its wet you may aswell not have tyres, you'd get more grip on bare rim

but on the other hand you can get yourself an overrated set of proxiet1rs and they will only last 4-5month in my case

Proves that people who spend a grand on a car probably don't want to spend 50% of that again on tyres and don't care if they crash it.

I would more put it down to the drivers thinking they are the next best thing to a race car driver.

Want something fun for the winter, hear the stories of how twitchy MR2's can be, then go out and buy 1 and run out of talent.

I ran my old MR2 in winter, with 205 55 16 Sunny tyres on the rear (supposed to be at least 225s on an MR2). Never had any accidents, but then again i never drove around like a clown.

I know how twitchy MR2s are, although the one I drove was set up to be even more twitchy than normal

They must have been part worns that were on their way out.

I had the t1r's on my old clio 182. They were brand new on the speedline turinis i bought. Done about 10k in 6 months which were mostly motorway miles but had light years left in them when i got rid of the car.

Only ever bought new tyres once and they were budget. Nothing wrong with them if you drive sensible,
