Evening,

Anyone a driving instructor? Or no any one that is? Looking for a cahnge of job which is a little less stressful and doesnt involve me working 66 hour weeks!

I know the training can be a tad expensive up front, however my main concern is the pay? Does anyone have any experonce in what would be an average wage?

My uncle did it for BSM, couldn't stick working the hours to make the pay.
One of my colleagues used to be a driving instructor, started working with us part time as he wasn't making enough as an instructor, I also know another instructor ho works in McDonald's part time as a manager on weekends.
Moral of the story, you really do have to put the hours in to make anything from what I've heard.

my dads mate is one. he likes the flexible hours but has to get loads of bookings to earn decent money.

he also said there is far too much competition nowadays so it's nigh on impossible to attract people without putting prices down.

he relies on recommendations.

It's something you can go in off the street and train up to do in a couple of weeks, it's never going to pay well unless you work 27 hours a day.

My dads done it and doesn't make ends meet, but enjoys the hours.

He's mortgage free, rents his old house out and djs parties so does all right in other areas, but the driving doesn't seem to help him too much.

As said above, since they blanket advertised it everyone has gone for it, so there's 100s of people doing it now

Normally you pay x amount a week for the rental of the slot and the payment of the car and admin stuff. with red its around £200 a weekBSM and AA are more expensive. You still need to put a lot of hours in to make decent money. I have started to do my training. I only plan to do it for a few years then advance onto something else.
