Not sure which sub forum this should be in, so thought I'd put it here

Where is the best place to buy a heavy duty chain? It's going to be wrapped around a large concrete pillar and then my bike will be locked to it.

The standard bike security chains aren't long enough, it needs to be a good few metres.

Thanks.

Didn't really want to spend a fortune, the bike will be stored in my underground parking so it's already pretty secure, I just wanted to stop people walking off with it.

Builders merchants should be cheap enough and sold by the metre.

Matty that one looks good, I'll check tonight if 2 metres is long enough, it's a pretty hefty pillar that it needs to go round.

Thanks!

B&Q also sells by the metre, so it can be as long as you want.

No idea on the cost though.

If you are serious about protecting your bike then get an Almax chain.

They make super strong chains which are properly tested.

I had a Oxford hardcore XL, about £70s worth and it got chopped with bolt cutters, all this gold rating, thatcham approved rating means bugger all as well.

A pair of 32" or 42" record bolt cutters will destroy all them thatcham approved chains.

Bolt Cutters vs Oxford Monster

I think the monster is approved for about 5 minutes attack time.

5 mins is long enough for me to get dressed and bat them over the head if my bikes are getting stolen!

+1 for Almax. Only chain worth having and they'll do any length you require if you shop direct.
