id get a qs if possible. the rear seats are a waste of time anyway

She's had three Mk 4 Golf's, a Turbo'd GTi, a straight 1.8GTi and the last one was a GT-TDi so she's familiar with the platform; that's why she was lookign at A3s originally as they're well, the same but different and that lead to this.

funnily enough, she said about taking the abck seats out anyway so that its easier to get a snowboard in.

Can't find many TT QS for under £9k; really can't go above £7k max

Not all QS have buckets, but none have rear seats (which are useless anyways)

find me some good examples then, not overly fussed on location so long as its not in the Outer Hebrides or Scilly Isles

good cars but riddle with electrical faults

As most people mention

coil packs on earlier cars
windows can drop on there own
relays for indicators can go
rear springs
dashpods
on chipped cars the boost hoses are prone to collapsing

2nd gear on chipped cars are prone to failure

Great cars though

I had a 225 and it was good fun

the one to have is the 180 FWD as its just as quick to 60 as the 225 but they are very rare

get after a 52 plate which is the facelift - includes 3 bar grill, titanium headlights, lowered by 20mm as standard
Don't pay extra for s-lines on a 51/02 plate as all the sline kit came standard

AVUS silver and special edition metalics fetch a higher premium and the control pack leather is a nice options with steering wheel, handbrake and knee pads all in the same colour as the leather seats

Window drop is an easy fix with the drivers side window switches!

Both down, both up, let got then hold both buttons up and hear a click! Fixed!

QS has gone up in price, mate was looking few months ago and could get a clean example for £7k now appearing around £10k on PH!

Window drop isn't easy if the regulator breaks, happened to me. Pain in the arse to fit the kit off eBay too

Whitter - how is the 180 the one to have... The 225 Quattro has 4wd and a better turbo

180 fwd doesn't have the extra weight, it is a fav amongst the TT fans.

Twin exhaust can be fitted to any, a valance and a 225 exhaust from someone who fitted a BlueFlame / Miltek and your good to go.

Most should be covered with a coilpack recall these days btw so shouldnt be an issue any more..

yea but a remapped 225 would obliterate a remapped 180 fwd..

it will also handle better and have more grip in the wet..

only plus is insurance is cheaper on a 180..

Have you driven both as I think you would change your mind

The 225 weighs over 150kg more than a fwd version IIRC

there's no debate about the drive train, she will only have a Quattro. Now I'm trying to convince her to buy one with no back seats for more money than one with back seat

no just the 225, but my golf was a ko3s stage 2 mapped and i think the quattro tt was much much better to drive

I'd take the quattro 225, 240 or vr6.

It's probably just 180 owners who couldn't afford the quattros trying to hide their shame. Yeah, haldex weighs a bit but in the real world you're not gonna notice it

I want another but a V6 or QS

I've driven 180 and 225 and there isn't a huge difference, 180 has less lag 225 pulls more when on boost!

Mate had a QS with sports cats and non res system it sounded almost as good as the V6's!

180 drives more like a diesel than a petrol, power comes early with no real force back into your seat!

I think everybody has flagged up the issues, also rear coil springs are prone to snap..

Gf has the baby 150 roadster which is quite nice to drive, interior is basic, but well presented.



Does she not want a roadster?

If you get the 225 then fit a vr6 rear valance thing.

I love the kit on the vr6/Qs
