same standard spec as mine . .
with a remap sitting around 190bhp with 360 lb/ft
can get dpf removed and mapped again to take you over the 200 mark if you want pub figures,
comfy to drive suprises few folks and handles every bit as good as the petrol versions + mpg of derv

No such thing as a DC3. Was only DC1, DC2, and DC4 iirc.
DC2 was the Type R. Uk and JDM models.
All the others were the lower spec models like the Si etc.
DC2 is what you want.

LCR is only fuel efficient if driven very slowly, which is impossible
Diesel is the only solution. Pd130 or pd150 engined car.

Yeah you're right there, the cd3/4 where saloons built for the jap/us market and included a facelift

DC4 was a coupe. Just like the DC2, but different model. Probably and SiR or Si etc.

Mk4 Golf gt tri and a remap, the pd130's will map to 175 ish bhp, 280nm torque and will see 50+mpg driven right.
Daniel_corsa's one fits the bill and is a very good example of one, I would be the new owner if it was closer when I was buying mine.

Is a Golf mk4 cool though ?
I could see mk1 and mk2 as cool.
Just asking as OP wanted something "cool" but guess all his criteria's are based apon opnion.
