I have got a c20let using an f20 gearbox

with the shafts in all the way, when I spin the wheels the gearbox makes a clicking clunky sort of noise. sort of noise u get when its not fully in gear, perhaps as if the cv joints arent in fully(they are and have been smacked loads with a hammer)

is there anything that it could be or that I could try?

or is it likely that the gearbox is fucked?

You mean play as you rotate the wheel back and forward? That's fairly normal. Sounds similar to when you check for neutral on the stick.

no mate i know there is play in it.

But when I spin the wheels the gearbox makes a clicky/clunking noise. sounds like its coming from the clutch area. could the input shaft be fucked?

Have you drove it to see if the noise gets louder as you go faster

no mate, cannot be driven.

its like the cv joints arent all the way in, but they are.

Could the input shaft be fucked on the box?

took off the diff casing today and have uploaded a pic, it all looks to be spinning as it should but still makes the clicking noise. fairly sure its coming from the clutch/input shaft area
