I'm in Grenada at the mo, all inclusive. And we have brought with us $300. Only spent $50 so far in 3 days on some stuff to take home. Other than a few other bits I can see us coming home with $200. We have spent nothing on food or drink yet in 3 days.
You don't have to , it's free/paid for already. So unless you go out exploring you won't really need any.
I would take a €200 and a credit/debit card just in case.

Little bit different as it's cheaper in South Africa (roughly 12ZAR to £1) but I took 3000ZAR / £350 for just under 3 weeks.
That was for around 75% eating out etc, 25% all inclusive. Put around a further £100ish on the credit card which was mainly for sight seeing / attraction entry fee's.

all inclusive is great, but you'll still want to eat out in the towns, both day and probably night, just to get away and do something different.
I think if you budgeted for 80 euros a day, that'll cover most of it. you'll have days when your much less (pool days) and days much more when your wife decides to go shopping.

If you're using your card abroad make sure your bank knows otherwise they'll probably stop it working thinking its fraud.
I'd not take much on holidays nowadays, just my card when I'm out there, probably get a better rate through the machine anyway

I took cash and a MasterCard to USA, exchange rate in shops was 1.49-1.51, paid on the MasterCard, checked the statement and I got an exchange rates of 1.58-1.5998. Even with the 2.5% fee it worked out a better rate than the exchange rate I got for the cash.
Not sure if it's any different with Visa, marginal if anything I bet. I'd imagine you're better off drawing money out when you're abroad (in a lump sum or two).

Depends where going!
All Inc to Egypt other year, only thing spent was on a scuba diving trip, as was fuck all about!
Usually £500-£1000 a week if self catering or going to USA, maybe more when going Vegas as can go mental quite easily!

i went egypt all inclusive for 2 weeks last year, took £400 iirc. ended up taking out another £300 or so out there (bare in mind it was 1-10 exchange rate then).
it's all the excursions and stuff which cost a bomb.
agreed about getting a better exchange rate out there aswell, was much better than thomas cook's over here.
