Possibly, if I could find a garage I trusted and that had extensive experience in the S54 (M3) engine. Which I can't see many places doing that don't charge the earth. The other side is they could say whatever they wanted is wrong and I have no way to prove otherwise. And worst case scenario if it's scored the block then it might be new engine time with could run into thousands of euros, it's just not something I want to get into. If I knew 100% it wasn't a hard fix or I knew what was wrong then yeah it would be quicker & easier, plus I could do a few more laps when I go to collect it but I don't know what I'm going to find when the heads off!

Thats precisely what i mean, if you had got the rac to repair it then if it was new engine time then surely it would save you an awful lot of money? but i suppose on the other hand if it was a cheap fix then you've still got to pay to get the car home again all if's and but's i suppose, Hope its nothing major and you get it sorted nice and cheap

The RAC won't pay to repair it? Any repairs are my cost, so if they fit an engine it would be 5k+!

Would just rather it was done by a local specialist where I can oversee the work being done

Thought about it, but my mates old man has one on his CSL and they come & inspect the car. Plus I want it done ASAP, we're getting into the height of the trackday season so I need to smash some out

Just been unlucky really though, I know of CSL's with 120k+ miles and they've been tracked their whole life with no problems. The cars always been looked after so there's not much I could have done really! The fact I can't wait to get it fixed and get it back on track should show how highly I think of it, it's awesome Lee you'd love it
