Basically the car runs fine then when idling (sometimes) it starts to rev then won't rev asif tberes not enough fuel and it pops and bangs and is pretty much undrivable any one else had this problem?

could be a number of things..is the management light on?? or even connected up?

Try unplugging the air flow meter and see if it makes a difference

Surely it won't run with the AFM unplugged?

it will run with the afm unplugged

had a vectra in my garage the other day that was running like this, unplugged the maf and it ran betgter than it did with it plugged in

if it does then it needs a new maf

It will run with the AFM unplugged because the ECU will have stored values to adjust air and fuel etc to back it up incase the AFM completely fucks up. With it unplugged you should notice the revs going up slightly more than normal as it will be firing through more fuel.

if i disconnect afm on mine it cuts out

Mine wouldnt run without the AFM connected either. Losing fuel pressure perhaps, or dodgy injector? Any fault codes thrown up?
