Right, started work in August and after I'd gone over my personal allowance (£7000 something) I started paying tax. Am I wrong in thinking that I should be able to earn £8,105 untaxed again considering it's a new tax year? Or am I talking complete bollocks and don't have a clue what I'm talking about?

The allowance is split into 52 weeks, so if you earn more than your allowance divided by 52 in a week you pay tax on it

Yes you are right, sort of
If you are at the same employer, they will give £8105/12 tax free each month rather than wait until you earn over the nil rate band
Edit: too slow
