Just going to show any updates with regards to this heap.
I'm on a serious budget as I'm currently a student and living with my girlfriend and our baby.

Here's a starter pic:

GLS model, got it for £360 from eBay with 11 months MOT, 3 months tax.
Would barely drive home, had to replace crankshaft sensor immediately.

Things wrong with it that I need to address:
-Rust
Has a few patches that need addressing, I'm going to buy an angle grinder and treat any areas that need doing the best I can.
- Tyres
Previous owner generously sold this car with 4 bald tyres, so kind!
- Alloys
Needs a nice set of vaux alloys.
- Wheel Bearing
Needs a wheel bearing sorting for rear N/S. Going to buy a scrap replacement so I don't have to press it in and just straight swap the entire drum / bit that holds the bearing.
- Interior trim
Few minor bits to tidy up

I beleive if I chuck enough cash at this metal bucket, it'll look good one day Future improvements to the car are probably going to be subtle, such as debadging, a nice grill, nice speakers + head unit, tidying up loom & parts in engine bay with a lick of paint, HIDs. Just want the car to look almost OEM factory fresh, but with a few small touches

Well because money is very tight at the moment, I'm only managing to progress with very minor things.

Took the header tank out & gave it a clean (very difficult to do, still not happy so going to buy a new one)
Splashed a coat of hammerite on the battery tray to make the bay a little tidier.

After this pic I also gave the engine bay a wipe down with some baby wipes (they were around and clean very well)

Got a angle grinder in my eBay watch list so going to give the cam cover a clean when I get it

I've ordered some xenon headlights from eBay (I'd have probably paid something like £6 for a normal pair anyway) and some LED sidelights, as I had a headlight out and a sidelight out.

My sidelights arrived already (very quick).
Can hardly see them in daytime, but at night they look like headlights, apart from there's no projection onto the road. Really pleased for a £1.99 spend. Can't wait for the headlights to come.

I bought 4 new tires, all with lots of meaty tread. I know it's a boring update but it keeps the car legal so no police can give me points and allows me to progress with further fixes / upgrades now that it's out of the way!

While I was at the scrap, I asked how much they'll do me the part that holds the wheel bearing for (think it's a drum /rear stub axle). They said £20, which is a lot cheaper than a £20 bearing plus garage costs. So I'll fit that to avoid replacing the bearing but still solving the problem That's next on my list. Will probably see if the part on my car will come loose with the tools I have tomorrow, if it does, tighten back up, then buy the part and fit it tomorrow.

Also, I've just bought a JVC head unit to replace the one my missus' old man gave me (very tempermental) £20 for a 4x50W head unit, typical price, but it is going to be posted to me for this cost, so not bad at all really! Thanks DanCobb!

Forgot to mention that I have upgraded the rear speakers already, but they're not much better than the standard ones. In the future, expect to see some nice component speakers in this car, I love music, but no subwoofers allowed! Would probably have to buy a 4x60w head unit though, but for now all is good.

I also hope to see some of you guys at PVS next year if this project goes well. 'Nuff ranting anyway.

Update: Headlight bulbs came, they're fairly brighter than standard, but it's bright sunshine outside so won't know what they look like until it begins to get dark, then I'll post pictures. Hoping to get that rear wheel bearing sorted sharpish too

Update: rear wheel bearings been sorted. £11 for the bearing kit and £20 fitting fees. Going to be buying nice things soon now, as soon as I get the cash to

She had fresh sparkplugs the other week, today I changed her oil and oil filter and also the air filter, as I'm going on a distance drive tomorrow, well the furthest she's gone while in my ownership (only 100 miles though).

I did accidentally fill her up with 5w30 oil instead of 15w40 (I thought 5w30 was thicker for some reason, turns out it's not), wanted thicker oil to mask the tapping 3 cylinder engine noise.

So that's more 'essential' progress with the car. Next it'll be doing the timing chain, along with pollen filter, fuel filter (not keen on doing that though tbh).

Also I'm out of debt now, so should be able to afford some nice alloys or something soon to provide this thread with well needed decent updates

You dont need a press to change the rear bearings.

They cost less than £10 a side.

Yep. Realised the piccies are a wee bit fucked. Well today I shampooed the car and used bug & tar remover (half a tub) up both sides of the car, will polish tomorrow and post some pictures on a decent image host.

Archie, I heard that you can do them totally yourself with any specialist tools, with a lot of perceiverance and swearing, but it's done now so

New update

Had to sell the car to my brother about 5 months ago..due to extreme income deficiency.

However, in recent months, I've found a full time job and rebought the very same corsa I sold to my brother. A nice big family car would be ideal but I see this corsa as a project now and intend to restore it fully and it's in my heart a little.

Since rebuying, I've only managed to fix the exhaust (bungs had come loose), clean her (hadn't been done since I last had it I believe), put coolant in the rad, instead of the water that was there before, screenwash, air wick freshener, new wipers, winter touch ups.

I will take pictures with the missus' iPhone and upload shortly, she needs plenty of work but it will be done, whatever the cost.

Seeing as she had a service before I let her go, first and foremost, will be the one thing that can radically transform the look of a car, alloys.
I'm on the lookout for some nice original vaux alloys, preferably with good tread.

Then, I've noticed since having her back, it's somewhat...not difficult at all, but more than it should be...to select gears, I think the clutch needs renewing, I hope to hold this off to such a time that I can renew the water pump, timing chain, head gasket etc all at the same time though, while giving the engine bay a refurb.

Sorry about too much text and not enough pics. They will come very shortly and I intend to restore it to factory condition. Subscribe.

Future plans.
(may all happen or only some, who knows)
-alloys
-sound system (no big subs, only components)
-coilovers
-engine refurb
-paint refurb/respray
-engine bay
-RUST RUST RUST
-MOT prep
-underside
-HIDs / MHWs / veccy mirrors / electric sunroof / refurb messy interior.

So I've just rebought her, going to move to a property with a drive / garage very shortly, then I will begin the major work on her, such as welding, refurbing the engine bay and making the underside pretty and rust free Until then, relatively minor updates..Pics to follow of work to be done..
