A set of my fave wheels has come up for sale in the right fitment for my car, which is quite unusual, as they're normally 4 stud.
He wants £500 for them without tyres, but says I could have them for £450, so if I got my tyres put on, I'd be looking at £500 all in.
My car's worth £5k and although I could afford the wheels easily, but would you consider spending 10% of your car's value on wheels?
Maybe I'm just being a tight arse?

The VW boys do it to Mk2 Golfs, spend more on wheels than the actual car is worth.
10% is nothing really.

if you would make most if not all of your money back on the wheels when you come to sell then there isn't any problems really
the wheels usually make the car anyways so just do it

i paid £400 for a set of wheels for the fiesta. they are currently in the garage 
£500 for wheels isn't that expensive really. if you didn't have tyres to go on then it would cost a lot but as you already have them, i'd say it's a no brainer.

As said the vag guys spend upwards of £2k on a set of wheels for there mk1/2 golfs. £500 all in for a set you've been after is pretty decent. I paid £460 all in for a set of fiesta ST wheels. That included powder coating them tho.

If you want them and can afford it then just buy them. Value of the car doesn't matter tbh.

as long as you look after good wheels they should always be worth a good amount.
So £1500 wheels may cost you £1500, but sell them after 3yrs and you could probably still get £1300, so really only cost you £200 for nice wheels for 3yrs

in my current circumstances, I'd probably spend £150 on a nice set.
In the future, when I have more disposable income, I could see myself spending £500 on some. My cars value..well I'd say 500

spent 2000 on my irmy sportstars for the astra coupe imported from germany a few years ago - thats the most
1800 for my bbs rs301's
my bbs rf's will cost a similar amount to build
got 2 more sets for my mk4 golf
need some for the mk2 now too

If they are rare in your fitment then there's a chance that you'll be able to sell them on for about the same amount if kept in good condition anyway.

I bought a set for the bmw for 1500, and a spare winter set for 44.25 on ebay!
Abarth ones were 900 but included tyres, new, and sold old ones for 450
