Youtube; there's a load of decent noobie tutorials.
Then have a gander at http://psd.tutsplus.com/ site PS tutorials.

Edit - Lynda.com also has a load of good tutorials for beginners but you'll have to visit an 'internet shop' for them.

watch a few video's on youtube and then just have a play with all the stuff. will take ages to understand everything but the basic stuff is easy enough to pick up.

Use it for what?

Do you want to make web and UI graphics? Photo editing? Photo manipulation? Something completely different?

There's milions of possibilities with PS, you'll reach your goal faster if you look at tutorials aimed for what you'd like to do. Just trying different random tutorials will give you a pretty steep learning curve.

There is no need for spam in here.

Want to learn to edit photos a bit better, that adobe light room is ok but I feel the requirement to learn more computer stuff.

YouTube.

Seriously, loads of great video tutorials on there.

I think there's a magazine you can buy in the shops as well but it was like £5 or £8 when I looked at it a few months ago, may as well check stuff out online for free lol

PSDtuts as Dom mentioned above is pretty good and very wide spread. Their tutorials often cover a large aspect so not just a matter of achieving a result with 5 steps.

I'd still say that keeping a narrow focus on what you want to achieve is a good starting point. Photoshop holds quite an array of tools and I don't think there's only ever one or two ways to reach your goal.

PSDTuts is really good it not a little too indepth. That said I went from not knowing anything to building a full website in PS(from scratch including slicing it up and then coding it up in HTML/CSS) in just a few days. Was frustrating as hell
