Is anyone on here clued up on banking?.
Recently After having some spare cash in my personal account i phoned my bank requesting them to pay off my personal loan.
Which they did.
However the Indian on the phone decided to also pay off my credit card, leaving my personal account very low on funds.
I phoned the bank when i realised what they had done (after 2-3days) they explained they have to re-listen to the phonecall and decide who's mistake it was.
The next day i see my personal account has been credited back the ammount owed from my credit card, yet the balance has NOT been ammended on the credit card.
Now 48hours later my credit card balance still remains at £0.00.
Im assuming they will eventually put the previous balance back on my card, but surely i can claim something for their incompetance?.

Fingers crossed they might have credited your personal account back to what it was, and written off the CC balance for there incompetance. You never know.

You got the money back, I assume you didn't happen to miss paying any bills of get stranded without cash since you haven't mentioned that in the first post so really what I want to know is why should you get compensation?

Why does everybody want to claim for everything.
They've sorted it when you've asked.

Go close card account if it's at 0 owed. It's ok for banks to fuck up but as soon as account holder does there's a nice £30 fine.

The point being I could have quite easily missed a payment, or been stranded without cash had i not noticed.
Which could have not only been an inconvenience, it could have also "blacklisted" me.

Because we like being in a 'credit crunch' what better to do to companies than claim for a load of shit

So you deserve money because a potential scenario didn't happen? So many things could've happened to me today, I could've been hit by a bus, I could've been assaulted, I could've been electrocuted, I could've broke a bone after falling down some steps, I must be entitled to loads of money for all that

Behave yourself, you don't get blacklisted for missing one repayment never mind that it was a problem on the banks end, that's a pretty week reason to try for money out of them for an honest mistake that they have put right

lol, I love this High horse everybodys on.
I havent said once i want "free money" from the bank.
Even if they offered me a deferred repayment on my CC would be nice.
Im quite intrested how they are going to work out the intrest once the money goes back on my CC.

So what was this 'something' you wanted to claim for if it wasn't money? A blowy off the bank manager?
And I'm not on any kind of horse whether high or normal sized, you're asking for compo for someone making a little mistake that was rectified with one phonecall, if someone had the cheek to ask me for compo over that, I'd give them the cost of the phonecall back, in coins, aimed at the face from point blank range

Not really much else to it...
If they were nice and helpful when you informed them of the issue, that's great.
If they were reluctant and cunty, switch bank.

Not sure weather i should bother updating this but...
I havent done anything since i made this thread - just let it play out.
I got a nice phonecall in work today, from a female representitive of HSBC.
Saying they have reviewed the phoecall and it is no fault of mine, so they will transfer the funds back onto my CC with no transfer fee ( I should bloody hope not!)
And also make the CC account intrest free for 24months. WINNER!
she then asked if there is anything else she could help with, and i suggested more UK callcentres instead off abroad.. To save this from happening again due to communications issues.
Now im getting Upgraded to an advanced account - Free for 12 months.
Which uses only UK callcentres.
Double WINNER!
To be honest i am extremely chuffed with that result.

What's wrong with the advanced bank account? For free you cant grumble considering you get breakdown cover, travel insurance, etc.
That's a nice result btw.
