I took my mrs to Edinburgh whilst pregnant. She was fine walking around and you can have plenty of stop off's at coffee shops etc. The bus network is great in and out of the city too if you stay in a cheap hotel/travel lodge etc.

I don't think they would allow a pregnant lady on a hot air ballon.

it was a nice drive up from where we live ( just outside liverpool), we went early morning to avoid traffic on a friday and got their for mid morning.
I want to go back next year with our little'un so the wife can enjoy it even more pregnant-free. It's a beautiful place, with lots to do and it was far less hustle and bustle than ou recent trip to London which to be frank was too over-crowded.

Not sure about taking a pregnant person on one though - landing wasn't massively dangerous but it has the potential to be a bit bumpy.

Another idea is to go somewhere like http://www.grosvenorpulfordhotel.co.uk (a freind stayed on a deal recently and loved it) but spend a day at the Chester Zoo also - which is a cracking day out
