Steve - I know you've looked into this recently, and anyone else care to suggest some suppliers?

I'm looking for 4x 255/40/17 in either Yoko 048R or 888

Camskill are normally good with price, and I'm waiting to hear back from the tyre manny we use at races.

Anyone got other cheap suggestions?

Just interested in knowing what forms the basis behind the 'apinion' it could be worthless or it could be invaluable and considering iv just bought a full set of 888 am interested in hearing why they're crap compared to the yokos

the 888's have a softer tyre wall than the a048 and have been deemed by experts (tyre reviews etc) that the A048 is a better tyre but personally.. the cost of the 48 is about £100 more per set if not more last time i checked and i dont think that i am good enough to tell the difference between them both so thats why i went for 888's

yeah i can understand the a048s being marginally better and the price would reflect that, im a bit dubious that they will 'blow the socks off them'

im not even sure myself or someone who equally doesnt have a massive amount of track experience would even know the difference

probably would be easier to tell when you really start to push the tyres into a corner, the 888's with a softer wall will try roll under the wheel and create a more understeery feel

i'm not driving on the road though

These tyres are needed for class reasons in racing. I managed to turn my current set into squares (flat spots) on thursday so though it best to get a new set.

Just read that Croft is pretty savage on tyres so may just make a 'decent' set out of the older 8 I have kicking about and save the new 4 for another time.

I dont know the track at all so wont be setting lap records
