I know it should be in snap day, but this might interest more than just photographers.
There was an explosion on the sun a few days ago which has caused a little appearance from the northern lights. If you've got a clear sky and you can get away from the light pollution then head outside, and face north. See if you can see anything...

Nice pic. You wont see too much with the naked eye especially further south. Cameras pick out the light better because of there long exposures

Steve is right. The camera certainly enhances the light, but you can still see the lights relatively well if your surroundings are dark enough. I went out again and I could see them much better here...

It was on my bucket list too, so i'm glad I managed to see something

Whens it visible? Can you predict or is it just by chance?

It's only visible when solar particles react the the magnetic field of the earth. This website shows the levels of solar particle activity hour by hour.
