I've heard bout them rippling and "bowing" after time.
However....to answer your question, then YES. The boot panel needs to be stuck onto the tail gate using a super strong car sealant. The hollow inside should be filled with an expanding foam filler. The edges of the panel then need to be blended into the boot. I dont know how this would work if u have a GSi spoiler or the like, but it has to be done all the same. I believe P38 and P40 would be needed to perform such a task DIY style
With such a mod as a smooth boot, you really wanna get it spot on otherwise you will get laughed at cruises + just in general, so remember this:
When u've finished sanding, and believe that it is smooth enough..........IT isnt. keep re checking the contours and ensure there are NO deficiencies in the filler.
However for more detailed instructons from a body shop expert, u2u Scott, Koni, Beardy, Des........
