i done it last september, really enjoyed, it only did it for 2 weeks, and was only part of a jury for 5 of those days.
you get a set amount per day, unless the case you go on gets extended or you have to be there for a longer period of time in which they pay out more per day.

Better hope you don't get paid as much as DaveyLC or you'll not be able to pay the mortgage.

no mate, your work have to give you the time off for jury service, you really should do it, unless you have a very valid reason I would suggest doing it, I was dreading it but getting right stuck into a case was brilliant, really enjoyed it and there was loads of fit girls when I done mine

They should allocate jury duty to those who dont work and pay them minimum wage or whatever.

Can you not just write a letter telling them they don't pay enough for you to do it? It's not enforceable if you end up losing money, is it?

I guess its one of them things that could happen to anyone at anytime, I do remember though when on mine if you got on a really juicy case and it went over 4 weeks they paid you something ridiculous like £120 a day
they also give you an allowance for drinks and lunch and have on site food so its pretty good, spent alot of time in the waiting room reading, chatting and having a laugh really
