As above, looking for some advice on a camera for around £400.

What like are the Samsung NX1000?? Currently on offer at Curry's for £399 with a free Galaxy Tab 2 and £50 cashback.

What else is in that sort of price range, that might be better than the Samsung??

The NX is a hybrid.

But by all means getting good reviews, have a look at Dpreview.

Is that Canon 1100d a decent enough camera for some1 who's best pictures have came from a Galaxy S3 lol.
