Right, I have found the below MacBook Pro -

17" Secreen
Intel Core i7 2.4ghz
750GB HDD
DVD RW (Dual R, CD RW)

Retail is £1900. This is an old model and I can get for £1399 delivered.

So question is, do I go for it? Old model, no retina screen, but it is a better spec than the most comparatively specced 13" MacBook Pro on Apple's website.

Downside I have found so far is 17" is a bit big - This won't be leaving the house.

This is also a better specced (processor and HDD than my Dell)

17" is massive for a laptop - I've got a 17" Dell, but they call them portable workstations, weighs a fucking tonne too!

Get the 15" retina pro instead of that.

Can't be that much more with your discount?

Thoughts on this -

No mention of disc drive, do they have them as standard?

Well I thought the Pro were better? If the Pro has more potential I thought that would be better?

Depends on what you need it for. Air is nice and portable but you get no optical drive and a slightly slower (average) CPU clock speed. The Pro is a bit bulkier but you get more ports, an optical drive and replaceable memory and HDD.

I have a 17" MacBook Pro, love it. Mates have the smaller versions and they feel pathetic next to mine.

I have never thought it was too big or too heavy and I carry it to work most days!

17" is dead in the water now! £1400 is looking more and more like a bargain and no where else has it for that price!

Tempted by the 13" one at play.com though.

The MacBook isn't that heavy.
Misses has a MPB 17" and I think theyre the nuts.

It would be my choice personally.

pop into an Apple shop and look at the difference between the two.

also dont worry about hard drive size, its a user serviceable part that you can change yourself without affecting warranty, but if you get a current gen version it will have usb 3 for external drives

Erm. Just checked my CC balance and it looks like I did buy it. No email confirmation, but I have just logged in to the EDF website and there is a pending order for it.

Gone a bit Abdus and saved it as a Word doc, screen printed and sent them an email

The Macs here!

Pretty big compared to my Dell!

Only downsides so far - 17" screen pretty big, makes some websites look a bit small! and just found out there is no sd slot!
