Very cheap for a lens, but just wondering if anyone on here has got or has first hand experience using one
Will be using with a 400d
Thanks

I like it. Nice dof and fast enough for me.
Can't beat it for the price imo.

I had one, great value, bit long on a crop factor body but lovely for portrait stuff.
AF is very slow indeed so forget doing anything moving, terrible for motorsport.
I'd definitely have one in the collection though, difficult not to justify at the price. I bought used and even made a fiver selling mine.

I've got one in my lens line up too. I don't use it too often, but always love the results when I do.

Bought one, was cheap enough. Used it for a while and 1.8 was nice.
Sold it though because I don't do that type of portraiture much

So there really a portrait lens only?
I'm purchasing one for my main lens as the stock 18/55 just isn't sharp enough for me..

Not exclusively, but it's the 50mm's biggest strength. Landscape and architecture is a chore to photograph with the crop factor.
Here are a few real life shots I took with my 50mm on a 1000D on vacations etc. My wife always used to bring a compact because she wanted some landscapes and buildings that my 50mm simply couldn't capture.

I think everyone has this in their kit bag don't they? I've shot a lot of video on mine but do find that the cropped sensor on my 600D can be a bit of a pain
