how do you know if you have a bloackage and what steps do you take to sort it

You need some automotive laxatives mate. Check out Halfords for Autolax, should clear the blockage.

Could also be the flux capacitor's filter. May need changing.

May aswell get one from Halfords aswell. If its a Corsa its a 120mm size you need.

Usually not too expensive but avoid the cheap knock off ones made by The Libyans!

Halfords own brand ones are okay JonnyJ

The Autolax is about £5 for a large can and the flux capacitor filters are no more than £4.
