Fixed the headlights, turned out to be the indicator stalk. Such a bad wiring job VW have done on the headlights, is no relays in the circuit and the 12v of power runs through the headlight switch and also the stalk.

Got a £15.99 stalk off ebay and just fitted it, gave me a chance to fit the new steering wheel as well

Awesome

Worth doing preventative maintenance or just leave it?

Not sure what to do with it, already got an extra fuse in the circuit now incase it shorts out again so should stop any burning. I fitted the uprated headlight loom the other day while trying to figure out the headlights, but took it off again as not too keen on exposed relays under the bonnet. Am thinking of extending the wires and mounting them inside the car.

Quick pic of my winter ride height

Got another 4 of the BBS wheels now, refurbing 2 myself to go on the rear.

Relays will be fine under the bonnet, my landy has a few exposed and will go wading with no electrical problems so I think your car will be ok.

Seen and heard a few stories on corrado forum about relays causing problems.

Think I will waterproof them somehow. The whole new loom is a bit naff really. Just unplugging the old connector on headlight and poking spade ends into it.

I need to run new wires from switch and stalk really.

Jim, can you not get a small relax box? SMG E36's get broken all the time and near the pump upfront there's a small fuse type box for two relays iirc.

Could probably pick one up cheap?
