3 is too goofy and should have been R rated, but it's still incredibly entertaining and has high production value. Both of which are criteria the original doesn't meet any more.
Salvation is a very decent attempt at a new formfactor. I do know a lot of people detest it for not being a "proper" Terminator, but the truth is that is, at least in my eyes, is a perfect sequel that doesn't try to be more of the same and isn't just another flick with one guy being chased by a far superior and both of them dying in the end.

I like Salvation, but it should have just been a stand alone sic-fi action film.
I remember being blown away by T2's sfx in 1991, I saw it the other year and its starting to look old.
