Just running in my freshly rebuilt xe and done the first oil change today. Ive used one of the 8v threaded parts to remove sandwich plate. Took filter off today and the threaded part was stuck in the filter rather than the pump. couldn't remove the threaded part to put into new filter so Unfortunatly had to reuse the same filter anyway of getting it off when it comes to next oil change? Hasn't got the Allen key fitment in the middle, just hollow!

Good point,I was thinking about ruining the thread if I did that, but come to think of it they will grip and not spin! I must of been imagining using pliers haha

mole grips or pipe grips, if they mark the threads use a thread file to dress them up again. or carefully cut the filter off the threads? large stud extractor up the middle of it will also work, a large flat blade screw driver works to.

Use some vice grips with some rag over the threads.
