There's a place near my office where I go for lunch sometimes.

I always pay on card. Every time they take my card to the till, then return it with the receipt. I don't sign anything or enter a pin and the card is not a contactless payment card.

How are they able to do this?

I've just realised the receipt I have isn't a card receipt, just a receipt for the lunch I bought.

I might check my bank statements and make sure they haven't been taking more than they were supposed to

The bloke who serves you fancies you so he isn't charging you.

I had this in a bar in Birmingham. He just gave me my card back and said cheers mate. I said I have not put my pin in or anything and he said it doesn't matter its under 20 quid.

Being very drunk and confused I just walked away and never thought anything more?

Well I go there once every couple of weeks and have done so for the last 4 or 5 months.

I noticed before and did wonder, but then forgot about it.

Bet they're taking a cheeky 10% every time they take your card.

Sometimes if I go to a McDonalds drive through and pay on my card, they don't normally give me a card receipt unless I ask for it.

I do have to enter my PIN on the handheld terminal though.

I don't think I'd be happy about giving my card to someone and it's taken out of my sight though - that's just plain silly (sorry).
