Pretty obvious what the issue is here if you've read the title.
Now its not My Gsi but the missus Euro Arden B...
The radio reception is aweful and its been getting worse for the last few weeks, now at first we put it down to the headunit, was old and well overdue retirement, so for christmas she got a brand new stereo for the car.
Fitted all correctly and still piss poor reception...
On closer inspection ive noticed that the rubber seal around the areial base is missing, could water have got in here and rusted the base? hence poor radio signal?
Any other ideas?
Can the radio signal be boosted somehow?
How do you gain access to the arieal base? links to tutorial?

Headlining down for that mark! There is also a connection in the kick panel in the passenger footwell

Thanks Dave, surely the ariel lead doesn't run from the roof to the passenger footwell?
I did find that when I fitted the Leccy windows so I know where that's located.
