After today's news I can think of 12 quite recent ones;

Woolworths
Gamestation
Jessops
HMV
Blockbuster
Focus
Borders
Comet
La Senza
Blacks
JJB Sports
Clintons Cards

That's all off the top of my head.

So, in let's say the last 5 years, who has disappeared, almost disappeared or is currently likely to?

Loads here: http://www.retailresearch.org/whosegonebust.php

Comet, JJB Sports, Clinton Cards, Game, Borders, Barratts, Alexon, T J Hughes, Jane Norman, Habitat, Focus DIY, Floors-2-Go, the Officers Club, Oddbins, Ethel Austin, Faith Shoes, Adams Childrenswear, Thirst Quench, Stylo, Mosaic, Principles, Sofa Workshop, Allied Carpets, Viyella, Dewhursts, Woolworths, MFI, and Zavvi/Virgin Megastore

I think any game and music stores might do well now the VAT loophole is being closed this year which means posting from Guernsey doesn't escape paying

its rediculous though they say hmv cant compete but they are far to expensive 16.99 for rhianna's new album and somebody said its available for 8.99 from some supermarkets % mark up for hmv is outrageous you gotta move with the times and realise your not the only store selling cd's anymore shorly!

Supermarkets sell some stuff at a loss though knowing they'll make it up elsewhere. CDs and DVDs are often one of them.

Exactly, Tesco probably makes 10p on every £10 CD/DVD sold, but rest assured you'll buy something else when you're in there so they always win.
