Heard about this earlier today, sad times. Last year was a bad year in rallying, hope this year is better. Lad I know was involved in a fatal crash last year.

Just watched a Sky News report. They were going on about crash barriers and saying that investigation is ongoing into whether icy conditions were to blame??!

Do people not understand rallying? You don't stop it if its icy!?

Spectators know the risks. How many "Motorsport is dangerous....." Signs do you see at every event. Muppets.

A lot of risk is to do with where you stand too imo

As Ben said, the people who go to these events know the risks involved and that there is a minute chance of something like this happening. Gotta love when the morons jump on it and try and destroy the entertainment.

McRae was a rally driver, and he died too. Must be an evil sport.

I'm surprised that more people aren't hurt. Seems crazy to me. Like going to a zoo with no fences and acting shocked when a tiger eats you

Maybe a rule of how close they stand to the road can be brought in

You should see the mad fuckers on the WRC abroad. Spectators haven't had a good day unless they've touched a car as it goes past at 100mph+

I was surprised when I used to go to the Manx International how close you could actually stand to the roads. So sad when something like this happens

Yea but common sence could be employed, not standing on exits to corners etc

Hard to police it more than it already is because freak accidents do occur. Portugal & the like are exceptions cause they've only had a good rally once a few of their fingers vanish up a rally car air intake.

But I must say I did laugh hard at the suggestion of crash barriers and grandstands.
