I fancy going to a European match this season / next season as David Brentan Rogers is doing his best to make sure we're not in Europe...
So far on the list is Dortmund, Roma and Barcelona, anyone been to watch of these, if so what was it like? Ticket prices etc

Yes thats what I'm thinking, they play great football and the fans / atmosphere look class. Ticket prices aint too bad either.
Can I justify to the missus that Dortmund is a good place to take her for birthday....

I'd avoid Italy, great for things to see and do but not so great if you go to a football match and they realise you're English. Might be a bit intimidating.
Spain or Germany, or maybe Holland? Ajax? etc.

Russ, why St Pauli?
Yea I thought the Italians might go abit mental if I went there, I've been to watch PSV before so already done a game in Holland.
Really like the idea of Dortmund, not gonna take the missus, take her Primark or summat instead

One thing I always try and do is go to a city with more than one club so I can go and see more than one game or do one game and one tour of the other clubs stadium.
Going to Madrid in May for a mental weekend, got tickets for Atletico Madrid v Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano v Valencia and going to do tours at Real Madrid and Getafe. Aswell as all the other sightseeing of the city! Guess I'm lucky having a missus who loves footie!
St Pauli would be good! St Pauli & Hamburg in one weekend

We are very far apart on what we define as a 'mental weekend'

Mental weekend for footie watching.
I reckon our 'MENTAL' weekends wouldn't be too far apart!

If have to go for a German game! Only because I've been up stadium but not watch a live game.
I've seen Inter V Liverpool in 2008 and Barcelona V Liverpool in 2007. About as far as my European games have gone, seen every home euro game though.

Looks like Germany is the top choice, I ran the Dortmund past the Mrs, she mumbled summat, not sure what!
So looks like it will be a boys tour to Dortmund, got a few 30th birthdays coming up soon, so gonna suggest it.
Whittie, what were both them games like?

Barca was purely by chance, I was in Barcelona and was just going to watch the game in a pub, was offered 2 tickets for less than £30 and had an amazing time. I cannot even think to imagine what an el classico would be like. Loved every moment of it, plus we won
San siro was decent but I made a massive mistake for purely going for the game, went for 2 days, and 1 night, saw nothing of the area, and what I did wasn't great. I'd have to go for 2 nights at least if I was to go back.
